* Reviewed [[Encyclopedia Listing]], looking at all 820 websites (at least looking at the URL). Started marking them in the IsIn? field as yess if they are encyclopedias, and noo otherwise. I chose yess and noo because they are unique search strings you can enter in the search box. I marked a few exceptions tbdd (#TBD) just so I could move on. Didn't want to get bogged down with websites that presented any challenges.

Tim is a technologist and software professional with experience in every part of the software business. His primary hobby is reading and writing on the internet. He also enjoys reading books, bicycling, and hiking. He earned an Sc.B. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He married his college sweetheart. They raised two sons in their home in Colorado and are now grandparents.

Tim is the former Treasurer of the Knowledge Standards Foundation.

Shift here from second person to first person.

I was working part-time for the KSF until March 31st last year (2024). I was retired from April 1st to July 5th. I came out of retirement to write a book. I have two working titles: Internet Wisdom 1st Edition and Sparky's Booklet. I spend a lot of time doing research and writing. All the words for the first draft are in my commonplace book, but the words are not in the right order. I have no delusions at this early stage that it will ever be good enough to be published. I get satisfaction from the process regardless. I'm figuring it out a little better every month. My resignation as Treasurer was final a couple months ago (March 6th).

I remain a volunteer on this project and strive to not out-live my welcome. But my book comes first.

If you surf through the history of this page, you can see how my interests have evolved and what I accomplished in the past.

Proposals

  • Thinking about how contemporary developments in artificial intelligence affect encyclopedic content on the internet and, more broadly, how to curate wisdom on the internet (including wisdom in all books)
